Bishop Onaga in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen on Thursday directed all parishioners, chaplains, and religious houses in the diocese to offer a one-week special prayer of atonement and reparation over the invasion and vandalization of the bishop’s residence on Tuesday.

He declared that “Every parish, chaplaincy and religious community in the diocese is obliged to participate in the holy activity”.

Insecurity: I led contractors to Buhari, says MBAKA

It would be recalled that Rev Mbaka had on Tuesday disappeared and later reappeared after 24 hours in Enugu, a development that sparked curiosity and forced anxious Catholic faithful and youths with sympathy for the man of God to protest to the Bishop’s house, where they were told that the Bishop was not around.

Mbaka was invited to the Bishops Court on Tuesday by Bishop Onaga for possible debriefing over the controversies between him (Mbaka) and the Presidency.

He was quoted to have said during his ministration on Wednesday last week that President Muhammadu Buhari had failed the nation and should therefore resign or be impeached by the National Assembly.

But the Presidency through its Special Adviser on Media, Shehu Garba in reaction attacked the cleric, accusing him of being angry because the President refused to give him a contract, an allegation Mbaka had since denied.

It was however feared that security operatives had used the Bishop as a decoy to arrest Father Mbaka, which compelled the protesters to take to major roads demanding for his immediate release.
