Nigeria receives vaccine from Russia

Samples of COVID-19 vaccines were handed over to Osagie Ehanire, Nigeria’s Minister of Health, by Alexey Shebarshi, Russia’s Ambassador to Nigeria, yesterday.

Russia was the first country to register a COVID-19 vaccine named Sputnik-V, and the samples were from the registered vaccine. Though the sample has been registered, Russia is receiving backlashes as a result of their hastiness to register the vaccine only after completing two stages of clinical trials, instead of three stages.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Control (NAFDAC) and other related agencies are billed to receive the samples so that they can start to analyse and authenticate the samples.
