Nigeria’s music rich, reflective of our culture, problems – Buchi

A popular Gospel Artiste, Buchi Atuonwu says that Nigerian music is rich and reflective of Nigeria’s culture and problems.
The reggae gospel singer popularly known as Buchi, made the disclosure in an interview in Enugu on Thursday.
He said that it was wrong to compare olden days songs and present-day Nigeria music as the latter reflected changes in the world.
According to him, there has been a transition in the way people do and view things and today’s music in Nigeria have changed like in any other country of the world.
“I hear people say some Nigerian musicians don’t play good music compare to songs in 80s and 70s but this comparison is very wrong.
“What happened was that time has changed and affected music in Nigeria; take for instance, the sound have changed to reflect reality,” Buchi said.
He added that there were still musicians who played authentic and creative music.
According to him, Nigeria music is rich and reflective of Nigeria’s culture and problems even as we find conflicts and contradictions in the midst of the cultures.
Listening to them, he said, one would begin to see the Nigeria problems as it affected its citizens.
“I have been releasing different songs since 24 years, one album in every three years and I continue to do so,” he said.
Buchi has released numerous reggae gospel music including “It is Well “, “Mma Mma”, “What a Life” and has been motivating the youths and downtrodden using musical ministrations. (NAN)
