OAUSTECH VC hails Aiyedatiwa for increasing state-owned tertiary institutions’ subventions by 60%

Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, Vice-Chancellor, Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa(OAUSTECH), has lauded Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa for approving a 60 per cent increase in monthly subvention for state-owned tertiary institutions.
Aiyedatiwa, on Monday, also approved the immediate implementation of the agreement reached between the Federal Government and university unions in the affected state-owned institutions.
Ologunorisa in a statement signed by Mr Paul Adeagbo, Director of Information, Protocol and Public Relations on Wednesday in Okitipupa, described the governor’s approvals as timely and unprecedented.
According to him, the increased subvention will greatly enhance the university’s capacity to deliver quality teaching, research and improved welfare for staff and students.
“The approval of the Federal Government unions agreements has averted potential industrial actions and restored stability across all Ondo State-owned tertiary institutions.
“This demonstrates the governor’s commitment to education and human capital development in Ondo State. OAUSTECH remains committed to supporting the OUR EASE Agenda of Aiyedatiwa’s administration,” Ologunorisa said.
He, however, said that the management, Senate, staff, and students of OAUSTECH appreciated the governor for prioritising education and the wellbeing of the university community.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), OAUSTECH Branch, had on Aug. 11 embarked on strike over non-implementation of the 2025 FGN-ASUU agreement and the non-payment of salary arrears owed to its members. (NAN)
