The former governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, who was arrested by the police has been released.
Spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, on Monday, Orlando Ikeokwu, said Okorocha was released on Sunday night after he was “invited” for “questioning” over the unsealing the Spring Palm Estate linked to his wife, Nkechi.
“He was released later at night,” the PPRO said, adding, “If anybody is found culpable, definitely, he will be charged to court. If investigation proves that he (Okorocha) has committed an offence, he will be charged to court.”

Okorocha who is the senator representing Imo West Senatorial District in the National Assembly was arrested for allegedly destroying government, security vehicles and also breaking into Royal Palm Estate on Akachi Road, Owerri which the government had seized from his wife, Nkechi.
Royal Palm Estate on Akachi Road was seized as a result of the recommendation by a commission that all illegal lands and structures acquired by Okorocah’s government between 2006 and 2019 be taken over by the government.
Also arrested were Ijeoma Igboanusi, deputy chief of staff when Okorocha was governor, and Lasbrey Okafor-Anyanwu, who was a commissioner in Okorocha’s government.
Okorocha spokesperson, Sam Onwuemeodo, in a statement on Sunday, lamented that over 1000 thugs sent by the governor attacked him and his aids at his wife’s property
He said: “More than 1,000 thugs, armed to the teeth with knives and guns and led by Chinasa Nwaneri, Governor Hope Uzodinma’s Special Adviser on Special Duties today, Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021, with the backing of armed policemen from Government House, attacked the former governor of the State and Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, Senator Rochas Okorocha’s Convoy.
“They attacked and damaged all the Vehicles in his Convoy. They also attacked his personal aides.
“This is the information we can give as of now. We are still watching events as they unfold.
“Okorocha has the strongest political structure in the state and teaming followers in the State. If he had expected the attack, he would not have moved with his personal aides alone.
“Okorocha has never been a violent man. This planned attack both unprovoked and unwarranted has opened a new, but ugly chapter in the politics of the State. We shall react fully to the situation.”
