Palpable fear in Afghan as Taliban marks women activists, bloggers, YouTubers houses
Journalists and women who were activists, bloggers, YouTubers in Afghanistan have reported that their houses have been marked by the Taliban.
Reports have it that the Taliban men were going door-to-door and marking the doors and houses of woman activists with bright pink or bright-colour.
Recalled that Taliban fighters swept across Afghanistan, taking control of towns and cities on Sunday.
Homira Rezai speaking to BBC said “I have received an update from Kabul where they (the Taliban) are going house to house searching for women who were activists, women who were bloggers, YouTubers.
“Any women who had a role in the development of civil society in Afghanistan.
“They are going door-to-door targeting those women and marking the doors with bright pink or bright-coloured paint to ensure ‘this is the house we need to come back to and do something about them’.”
She tweeted: “Over the past hour, several Afghan female friends in Kabul told me the Taliban are in their neighbourhoods, going house to house, looking for women in government and media, making lists.

“One sent me a photo from her living room showing armed Talibs outside. ‘I love you,’ she wrote.”
Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Sunday left the country, local TV channel Tolo News TV reported
Before leaving he had vowed to prevent instability in his war-battered country amid the intensified fighting and Taliban’s advance towards major cities.
Kabul police had abandoned the district police stations, the Taliban will enter the city to provide security for the countrymen and ensure law and order.
