Tragedy struck on Tuesday in the Iwo Road area of Ibadan, Oyo State, when a fuel-laden truck trapped a commercial Nissan Micra with passengers against another truck marked ECQD704 heading towards the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The accident caused gridlock around the axis and efforts by passers-by to rescue the trapped passengers were futile.
Witnesses told Peoples Gazette that the fuel truck experienced a brake failure and the driver lost control of the vehicle.
As of the time this report was filed, emergency efforts were late in coming for the trapped passengers after about an hour of the incident.
It was gathered that the truck drivers fled the scene immediately the accident occurred to escape mob attack.
