The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) must invite its 2023 presidential flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar to the Disciplinary Committee, which it set up to resolve the party crisis, for fairness, a Professor of Communications at Baze University, Professor Abiodun Adeniyi has said.
Adeniyi said this during a chat on Arise TV, stating that it was unfair to invite only the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, stating that the same invitation must be extended to Atiku.
He stated that no member of the party is a “sacred cow”, adding that the former Vice President is a main factor in the resolution of the party crisis.
“I think they also missed it in the first instance. They said they are setting up a Reconciliation Committee, fine, and again a Disciplinary Committee. And you want to invite people to a Disciplinary Committee.
“Calling it a Disciplinary Committee is already contemptuous. That means everybody you are inviting is most likely to be fit to be disciplined. If you are really now inviting Wike from what we’ve been told by one of the officials, that Minister Wike is invited, what about the other parties?
“You didn’t tell us one other person that I think should be there. With the greatest respect, it is former Vice President Atiku. He should, too, be invited if they think they don’t have any sacred cows.
“If they think they are not necessarily respecting people, and against the background of his status in the party, and do not forget, he is a main factor in the possible resolution of the crisis bedeviling the party.
“That’s why I said if you want to invite an Atiku, for instance, you won’t be saying come on, come to a disciplinary panel. I mean, this is somebody who has paid his dues, an accomplished person,” the Professor said.
