Police arrest suspect with arms at hideout in Anambra

The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Police force said on Wednesday that they have arrested an armed robbery suspect in Afor Nawfia in Njikoka’s local government area of the state.

The suspect, Daniel Nebolisa, aged 29 was nabbed at a hideout with a catchment of ammunition.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, said operatives of the force in the state had busted a criminal hideout in the area and arrested the suspect with one double-barrel locally fabricated pistol, one single barrel locally fabricated pistol, twenty-one live cartridges, five expended cartridges and one AK 47 ammunition all concealed in a bag.

He said the suspect was already loping the police with useful information that would lead to apprehending other fleeing gang members.

According to Ikenga said the suspect had confessed that he was waiting for other members of his gang at the time of his arrest by the police.

Meanwhile the Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Eworo had urged Anambra residents to continue in the tempo of providing the Police and the security community with timely and credible crime prevention information.
According to him, timely and adequate intelligent information would assist in curbing crime and criminality in the state.

The command enjoined the citizens to remain vigilant and law-abiding.

The Command noted that the recent feat accomplished by its operatives was due to credible intelligence information by members of the public.

It reassured residents of the Command’s avowed commitment to do everything within its powers to maintain public security and safety in the State.
