The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has taken steps to weed-off bad eggs in its midst, with a view to sanitising the force for the better.
The need to clean up the force followed a viral video of a police officer, identified as Corporal Isaac, who was gyrating and singing songs peculiar to a vicious and violent confraternity in the country.

The Force Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Force Headquarters, Abuja, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement in Abuja said the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba, condemned the unruly conduct of the officer caught in a viral video, singing, dancing, and brandishing a rifle in praise of a particular confraternity (cult). The officer, he said, has been identified as Corporal Matthew Isaac, attached to the Ebonyi State Police Command.
“It is regrettable that cultists have found their way into the police and other security agencies that are saddled with the constitutional duties to checkmate the heinous, savage, and murderous activities of these cult groups and other criminal elements,” the PPRO said.

He noted that the act of the officer in question, which is clearly calculated to portray the NPF negatively, was a discreditable conduct in line with the provisions of the First Schedule to Regulation 370 of the Police Regulations.
“His actions equally violated the provisions of the NPF Social Media Policy (SMP), penal laws, and other extant laws regulating the conduct and discipline of all Police officers,” the statement revealed.
He added that the IGP has directed the Commissioner of Police in charge of Ebonyi State to detail the Command’s OC Provost to hand over the erring officer to the Force Provost Marshal for necessary disciplinary actions.
The IGP further warned officers to ensure total compliance with the laws guiding the Force as any breach would be severely sanctioned.
