Presidency tags Obasanjo as ‘divider-in-chief’

Olusegun Obasanjo, former president of Nigeria, has been berated over his comment on the situation of the country which cast President Muhammadu Buhari in a bad light.

Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, labeled the former president as a divider-in-chief, meaning that his efforts are only targeted at causing division in the country.

However, this statement by Shehu has caused a divide in the varying socio-political groups in the nation.

Ex-president Obasanjo was asked to stop acting like a saint by the Arewa Consultative Forum, while Ohaeneze Ndigbo were of the opinion that President Buhari’s regime does not hold water in comparison to Obasanjo’s administration. The view of the latter was supported by Afenifere, who are certain that Buhari’s administration is solely focused on the ethnic and religious division of the country.
