President Muhammadu Buhari has said in a statement through Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant that the deaths of two monarchs in Borno state is a loss to the country.
He consoled the governor of Borno state, Governor Babagana Zulum over the death of the Shehu of Bama, Shehu Kyari Ibn Umar El-Kanemi and the Emir of Biu Mai Umar Mustapha Aliyu.
Through a government delegation led by the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, President Buhari said, “such a rare tragedy is especially painful for the people of Borno and Nigeria at large.”
He further went on to note the contributions of the Monarchs in their respective Emirates despite the unrest caused by Boko Haram saying that the government and Nigerians appreciate them.
“Their exemplary leadership in the face of adversity is worthy of emulation by their successors.”
The delegation commended Governor Zulum and appreciated him for making security a priority despite great personal cost.
In turn, the governor thanked the delegation for their visit and asked that they convey his regards to President Buhari.
