Prioritise your health, Experts advise women

Some health experts from Manipal Hospitals, India, on Monday, urged women to give their health the deserved attention in order to stay fit.
Chief Operating Officer of the hospitals, Mr. Karthik Rajagopal, gave the advice at a virtual conference, organized by Manipal Hospitals Enterprises, in commemoration of International Women’s Day (IWD).
The virtual conference, with the theme: “Circle of Care: Women’s Health,” was in support of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), under the leadership of Mr. Christopher Isiguzo.
The conference was also in support of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) and National President, Cameroon Association of Media Professionals, Mr. Solomon Agborem.
Rajagopal said that the conference, organized for women journalists across the world, was aimed at encouraging women of all age groups to understand the importance of their health and start conversations on their wellbeing.
According to him, women usually take care of their families but have little or no time to take care of their health, even as they strive to balance their family responsibilities with their careers.
The conference discussants included two leading specialists: Dr. Bhaskar Shenoy, a Paediatric Consultant, Dr. Supraja Chandrasekar, a Consultant Paediatric Intensivist, both from Manipal Hospitals and among others.

Some of the women, who spoke during a panel discussion, highlighted some of the success factors they applied in overcoming the challenges they used to face on daily basis.
They were of the opinion that a woman’s health could be influenced by her biological make-up as well as the socio-cultural, economic, and physical factors.
These factors, according to them, have impacts on the overall quality of women’s lives and wellbeing.
