Reps hold valedictory session for late Hon Ossy Prestige

The House of Representatives is currently holding a valedictory session for late Honourable Ossy Prestige until his death, he represented Abia North, Abia South Federal Constituency.

In his honour, the House invoked  Order Twenty-one Rule 8(1) and (2) of the Standing Rules, to admit  the State Governor, family members of the deceased, wives of South-East members of the House of Representatives and others

Described as a Bridge -Builder between the North and the South of the country, members who spoke during the session, noted that he was an uncommon lawmaker who worked hard in the House and also for the benefit of his constituents, he represented at the House of Representatives.

Honourable Buba Yakub, Abiante, Obinna Chidoka and Honourable Darlington, all eulogised the late Prestige and  emphasised that his style of representation won him a two- time membership both of the 8th and 9th assembly

“He  won the election by personality not by party,” Honourable Darlington said

According to the lawmakers, “the late member was  full of activities and he never disappointed anyone, his constituents and house members, as he was fondly called “001, House of Commons”

For Senator Eyinaye Abaribe, “he worked together with me notwithstanding we were from the same parties”.

“Death took him, even though he was father to many”.

“Death, please don’t come to us again, to this chambers and the senate chamber” Senator Abaribe pleaded

Others who spoke at the session were some members of the leadership, who not only lamented the several members who have died in the 9th House but raised the alarm that ” it was one death too many”

Toby Chukwu, the deputy minority leader, described Prestige as one member who commanded respect

“We have lost him, all we have about him now are memories. I appeal to  the family members to bear” Chukwu said
