Sam Ahmedu re-elected FIBA Zone 3 president

A board member of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Colonel Sam Ahmedu (rtd), has been re-elected as the President of the Federation of International Basketball Association (FIBA), Africa Zone 3 for a third tenure.

At the FIBA Africa Congress held at the Hotel Polana Serena in Maputo, Mozambique on Thursday, Colonel Ahmedu was also elected as member of the FIBA Africa Central Board.

Col Ahmedu, who is also the proprietor of Dodan Warriors Basketball and current chairman of the Benue State Basketball Association is expected to remain in office for the next four years which lapses in 2027.

Speaking after the congress, he expressed gratitude to the Almighty God for the success and thanked everyone that supported him.

On his part, FIBA Executive Council member, Abdellatif Hatim of Morocco who supervised the congress, attributed Ahmedu’s re-election to hard work and his immense dedication towards the development of the game in the zone.

The eight countries that participated in the zone 3 elections include Nigeria, Ghana, Niger, Liberia, Togo, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and Benin Republic.
