Four days to the general elections,there were pockets of political clashes among supporters of major political parties on Wednesday in Akoko Northwest local government area of Ondo state.

To this end, peace accord and stakeholders meeting were urgently summoned at Okeagbe-Akoko, the headquarters of the local government to douse the tension.

The meeting which was attended by royal fathers,religious leaders,political party leaders, youth leaders,security agents and INEC.officials.

Speaking at the meeting, the local government chairman,Elder Ayodele Akande urged politicians to caution their followers against involving in activities that can cause mayhem before,during and after Saturday elections.

Akande noted that there had been peaceful coexistence in the local government,hence nobody should hide under any guise to forment trouble in the local government.

The chairman, Akoko Northwest traditional council and Zaki of Arigidi Akoko, Oba Yisa Abu Olanipekun urged politicians not to use provocative words and campaigns of calumny while seeking for votes.

Oba Olanipekun urged them to embrace politics of decorum and shun politics of bitterness as God is the giver of positions.

In her submission, the INEC electoral officer for Akoko northwest local government, Mrs Ade Aboderin assured people that commission had prepared for Saturday elections in a way that is going to be credible and also be one of the best elections in the country.

UK vows to sanction perpetrators of election violence

Aboderin noted that no voters card no elections,saying the last mock accreditation had shown that Saturday elections will be very smooth and successful.

The electoral officer disclosed that over 10,000 Permanent Voters Cards remained unclaimed in the local government.
