Security: Police seek residents’ cooperation for effective policing

ACP Sani Aliyu, the Police Area Commander in Kubwa, Abuja, has appealed to the residents in the area to cooperate with the police in ensuring effective policing and safety.

Aliyu made the plea during a sensitization program in Abuja on Tuesday, saying that the program was aimed at building robust lawful relationships between the police communities in the FCT.

The event was organized by the FCT Police Command Community Policing Project, FCT.

According to him, the event will create an avenue to aid security strategies and efficient policing.

The area commander also said that the program was designed as a unique and opportunity drive to foster outreach, public consensus, and advocates raising for community policing agenda of the Nigerian Police.

Aliyu said that the police had designed critical programs that involved schools via sports and literature and town hall meetings to discuss security challenges in communities.

He noted that during such meetings, communities involved would tell their sincere observation about police practices in their areas.

“We want to engage the youth who are the main target to work with the police, by so doing, they will shun social vices and crime reduction,” he said.

In her speech, Mrs. Nana Dahiru advised all “parents to watch what their children and wards do in their spare time”.

Also, Chief Bolaji Adigun, Chairman of Police Community Relations Committee FCT, noted that community policing was a way of being responsible and been accountable to the community.

The program is scheduled to hold intermittently at all six area councils in the FCT.

The event, which was held in Kubwa, had the attendance of Byzhin, Zuba, Dutse- Alhaji, and Mpape zones.
