The Senator representing Enugu North Senatorial District of Enugu State, Senator Chuka Utazi said that he is giving up his seat at the National Assembly for Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
Senator Utazi who expressed his decision not to seek reelection, to allow the Governor to take up his seat at the National assembly, demanded that the government should ensure that his successor must come from Nsukka Cultural zone to make up for the sixteen years of the marginalization of Enugu North by political actors in Enugu zone.

Utazi who spoke at the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Enugu North zonal meeting in Nsukka, reminded zonal party leaders and supporters that elections in Nigeria have improved with the new Amended Electoral Act.
He said that the practice of manipulating results between polling units and collation centers was no longer tenable as the new technology -the Bi-Modal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) now facilitates transmission of elections from polling units to the headquarters.
He tasked the stakeholders to mobilize voters in the cultural zone to give Governor Ugwuanyi’s preferred candidate the anticipated victory.

He noted that his support for the Governor’s aspiration to go to the Senate is borne out of his desire for Enugu North to speak with one voice during the election.
On his part, the Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi thanked Senator Utazi for his sacrifice.
He said that Nsukka has the voting strength to decide who becomes governor of the state at the poll, any day any time.
While thanking the people of the cultural zone for their support during his first and second elections in the state as a governor, Ugwuanyi urged the electorates in the zone to the extent same support to the party in the coming elections in the state.
He, however, decried the unprovoked media attack on his person, saying that those who chose to use the media to denigrate him will be disgraced at the fullness of time.
Other stakeholders who took a turns to speak also expressed their support for the governor’s senatorial ambition.
