About 2 million SMEs to benefit from two FG schemes

Over 1.7 million micro, small and medium enterprises within Nigeria are to receive support from the National MSME Survival Fund and the Guaranteed Off-take Stimulus Schemes of the Federal Government.

These two schemes were flagged-off yesterday under the Nigeria Economic Sustainability Plan which was approved on the 24th of June 2020, by the Federal Executive Council.

Members of the Federal Executive Council include the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, numerous ministers and the Vice President who happens to be the chair of the council.

Mariam Katagum, Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, explained that “Both schemes are at the core of the N2.3tn stimulus package, also known as the Nigeria Economic Sustainability Plan being implemented to help cushion the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is with a view to boosting the economy by saving existing jobs and creating new job opportunities.”
