Major General Christopher Musa was appointed new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) by president Bola Tinubu on Monday, June 19th 2023.
Musa replaced General Lucky Irabor following his appointment by the president.
Although the new Chief of Defence was born in Sokoto on 25 December 1967, he hails from Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

Biography Of Maj.-Gen. Christopher Musa
Major General Christopher Musa started his educational background from Marafa Danbaba Primary School Sokoto from 1974 – 1978.he attended Model Primary School Dorowa Road Sokoto from 1978 to 1980 before joining a Vocational Training Centre Gaummi, Sokoto from 1980 – 1981.
He enrolled in a Federal Government College Sokoto from 1981 to 1985 and later College of Advanced Studies in Zaria from 1985 to 1986.
He obtained a BSc Hons-(Chn) from the Nigerian Defence Academy from 1986 to 1990.
and subsequently went to the University of Lagos for an Advanced Diploma in Security Management from 2007 – 2008. He also holds a Master of Science (Mil Science) from the International College of Defence Studies-National Defence, University Changing in Beijing, China from 2012 to 2013.
