The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has extended an olive branch to political opponents in Rivers State, declaring that he has forgiven all aggrieved actors amid prolonged political tensions in the state.
Wike made the declaration on Saturday during a political luncheon in Port Harcourt, where he urged estranged allies and former associates to return and work together in the interest of unity and development.
“I use this opportunity today, to announce that I have forgiven everybody,” the minister said, stressing that political disputes should not be allowed to linger endlessly.
“I want you to come back home sincerely… We have played politics, we have abused ourselves, this is the right time for you to come back,” he added.
The former Rivers State governor said reconciliation had become necessary after years of political disagreements and public exchanges among key actors in the state.
While calling for unity, Wike also used the occasion to defend the administration of President Bola Tinubu, highlighting what he described as massive infrastructural development taking place in the Federal Capital Territory under his leadership.
According to him, his administration has lined up projects for commissioning over a 31-day period to mark Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.
“This third year of Mr President alone, we are taking 31 days for the commissioning of projects in Abuja. I’m not talking about boreholes. I challenge anybody to contradict this,” Wike stated.
He maintained that the pace of development in Abuja reflects purposeful leadership and challenged critics of the administration to match the scale and quality of projects being executed in the nation’s capital.
