Gov. Hope Uzodimma of Imo has commended security operatives for the recent operation that led to the arrest of the criminal elements allegedly terrorizing Orsu Local Government Area of the state.
The commendation is contained in a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachuku, and made available to newsmen in Owerri on Tuesday.
A Joint Task Force had, on Monday, successfully busted a criminal gang that had been disturbing Nkwerre-Uda community in the council area.
The task force comprises operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), the army, police, navy and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NCDC).
The governor said that the operation revealed horrifying sites of pits filled with decomposing human bodies, decapitated human heads, charred bodies of human beings, shrines, and other unwholesome activities of bandits in the community.
He quoted the Leader of the team and the Commander of DSS as saying that they were at the camp based on intelligence that bandits had turned the place into a haven for kidnapping and all sorts of crimes.
Uzodimma urged them to sustain the momentum and return stability and normalcy in the area so as to achieve the target of ensuring that people came home and enjoyed the yuletide.
His words: “At about 1 am. on Monday, a joint security team, comprising the military, police, and DSS, stormed the camps in Uda in Imo and Lilu community in Anambra.
“They noticed that the community had been deserted and that the hoodlums had carved out a part of the land for themselves, as a brand of insurgency.

“As a result of the raid, the security agencies were able to rescue Eze Acho Ndukwe of Amagu Ihube in Okigwe LGA, who was abducted some days back.
“They discovered lots of decapitated human bodies and surprisingly, they discovered that the criminals were practicing cannibalism as they roasted human flesh, which was actually an eyesore.
“In addition, they recovered vehicles, saw lots of dead bodies, as their stock in trade was kidnap, kill, behead and roast.
“Expectedly, the hoodlums engaged them in a fierce gun duel where some of them were neutralized without fatalities on the side of the security team,” he said. (NAN)
