A 10-year-old girl has been set on fire in Mowe area of Ogun State by her mother the police have said.
The mother, Aisha Tijani, was said to have doused the girl with petrol before setting her ablaze on Sunday.
Aisha who is a mother of five, according to the spokesperson of the Ogun state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the 10-year-old girl was severely burnt and was taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), in Sagamu local government area.
Oyeyemi also said that Aisha said she didn’t know what came over her when she was carrying out the wicked act.
He said: “On interrogation, the suspect, who claimed to have been separated from the father of the children, explained to the police that she didn’t know what came over her when she was carrying out the wicked act.”
