Yusuf dismisses ADC, rallies Kano for Tinubu

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Sunday dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as politically irrelevant in the state, declaring the party “dead on arrival” amid its lingering internal crisis.

Yusuf also used the occasion to galvanise political support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, expressing confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would secure a landslide victory across elective positions.

The statement was signed by Mustapha Muhammad, Chief Press Secretary to the Kano State Governor.

The governor made the remarks while addressing a large crowd of supporters in Kano shortly after returning from Abuja, according to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad.

He argued that the ADC’s internal wrangling has significantly weakened its structure, making it incapable of posing any meaningful political challenge in Kano’s evolving political environment.

According to Yusuf, beyond the leadership crisis rocking the opposition party, the ADC lacks grassroots acceptance, cohesion, and credibility to compete with the ruling political establishment in the state.

“The ADC is dead on arrival in Kano because it lacks the unity, structure and support base required to function as a viable political platform,” the governor said.

He stressed that Kano remains firmly aligned with the ruling political structure, maintaining that the state’s people are solidly behind the administration and its development agenda.

Yusuf urged party loyalists to remain united and vigilant ahead of the 2027 general elections, noting that sustained political cohesion would be critical to consolidating ongoing governance reforms and infrastructural development.

“We will rally solid support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and I am optimistic that APC will, in Sha Allah, win all elective positions in 2027,” he said.

Highlighting the benefits of collaboration with the Federal Government, the governor said the partnership has already begun to yield tangible results in infrastructure development and social intervention programmes across Kano State.

“Our partnership with the Federal Government has already been yielding positive results through interventions in infrastructure and social safety initiatives. We will deliver APC with a landslide victory,” Yusuf added.
