Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, on Thursday led a high-powered delegation from the state to the North-West Zonal Congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held in Kaduna, as the party intensifies preparations for its National Convention.
A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the delegation included elected representatives, political appointees, party executives and other stakeholders, reflecting Kano’s strategic role within the APC in the North-West.
Yusuf stressed the need for unity and credible internal processes, noting that peaceful and transparent congresses remain vital to the party’s stability and electoral success.
“Peaceful, transparent and credible intra-party processes are critical to strengthening unity and ensuring the long-term success of the party,” he said.
The congress brought together party leaders and delegates from across the North-West to elect zonal officials and deliberate on key issues affecting the party ahead of future elections.
Delegates at the meeting unanimously ratified the emergence of the new APC North-West zonal leadership, a move party stakeholders described as a reflection of consensus and cohesion.
“The outcome of the congress positions the party for a successful National Convention and strengthens its structures across the region,” the statement said.
Yusuf also congratulated the newly elected zonal executive committee, while the Kano delegation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting efforts aimed at consolidating the party’s influence at all levels.
