2 Police Officers Arrested Over Alleged Killing Of Civilians in Kano.

Nigeria police, Kano state command has confirmed the arrested of two of its men over the alleged extra judicial killing of two resident of Sharada quarters in Kano metropolis.

The spokesman of the command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa on Sunday revealed that the arrested police personnel, who are in detention were attached to the Anti Daba(anti thugs Unit) of the state command.

He said “it is true that some officers of anti Daba unit in the company of some civilians last Saturday (yesterday) went on a tricycle to Sharada quarters in Kano metropolis to arrest some hoodlums, two persons were allegedly killed in the process.”

Kiyawa stated that the police officers were apprehend on the directives by the state commissioner of police, Alhaji Habu Sani, he added that investigations have commenced to unravel the facts of the issue.

An eyewitness, Salhu Umar, who spoke to TN, on Sunday said the police operatives assisted by some volunteer civilians had stormed the area to arrest some suspected hoodlums , “the youths in the area resisted the police attempt to effect arrest, leading to a state of pandemonium, the police began to fire live bullets. The eyewitness said.

“those who died are Abubakar Isah and Ibrahim Suleiman , who was stabbed to death by one of those, who came for the operation.”

Our correspondent gathered that the victims were ferried to Muritala Muhammed Specialist Hospital(MMHS) were they were pronounced dead by medical authorities.

When our correspondent visited the area on Sunday, normalcy has returned, efforts to speak to the relatives of the victims proved abortive, they decline to comment on the matter.

The corpse of the victims were buried on Sunday morning(today) in compliance with Islamic injunctions.
