2026 NDG: Akwa Ibom’s Princewill outpoints Ondo’s Emmanuel in boxing as Okorie eyes gold

After outpointing Emmanuel of Ondo State in the male 60kg preliminary bout, Princewill Itoro Effong of Akwa Ibom State, says nothing short of the gold medal is his target.
Princewill dominated the three rounds contest, often putting his taller and bigger opponent at the receiving end.
The sharper Princewill was declared winner by unanimous decision of all the judges.
Speaking after the fight Princewill said he never doubted his chances against Emmanuel, who is contesting in his first major boxing fight.
I knew I was going to beat and I kept pressure on him right from the start of the fight.
“I’m excited winning the fight. It’s just the begining but I’m focused on getting to as far as the final, positively winning the gold medal.

In another bout, high flying Imo State female boxer, Odinaka Okorie had declared that she is in Edo State to cart away the gold medal.
Odinaka, fighting in the 51 kg class overwhelmed her Edo State opponent, Obaseki Esosa Favour in the fight which she dominated from the first round untill it was stopped in the second round by the referee to safe her opponent from further punishment.
She told our correspondent shortly after the fight, that she’s ready to take all her opponents to the cleaners as her ultimate goal is to win the gold medal.
“I’m very excited winning my fight. You know the first fight in any tournament is always difficult but I gave God all the glory for seeing me through.
” With this victory, I am sounding a note of warning to all my opponents because my ultimate goal is to win golf and advance further in my career”, concluded the soft spoken pugilist
