2027: Duke promises ₦300 petrol price

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, Donald Duke, has promised to reduce the price of petrol to about ₦300 per litre if elected President in 2027.
Duke made the pledge on Wednesday while speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, where he outlined his plans for the economy and the 2027 election.
Asked what he considered a realistic petrol price under his administration, the former Cross River State governor said, “Try and bring it to about N300.”
Duke argued that petrol remains central to Nigeria’s economy and that its availability and affordability are critical to the productivity of citizens and businesses.
According to him, government must create an environment where Nigerians can work, move goods and services and run their businesses without being weighed down by high energy costs.
“I’ve said several times that the function of government is to ensure the productivity of their citizens within a safe and orderly environment. Fuel drives your economy. It should be available. It should be affordable,” he said.
The PRP candidate said reducing fuel costs would form part of his broader approach to easing economic pressure on Nigerians if elected president.
His pledge comes amid sustained public concern over the cost of petrol and its impact on transportation, food prices, businesses and household expenses.
