Atiku condemns Kaduna kidnap, demands rescue of couple, infant

African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has called on security agencies to rescue Ahmed Zakka, his wife and their infant child, reportedly abducted in Kaduna State.

Atiku made the demand in a statement on Monday, describing a disturbing video of the family’s ordeal as a painful reminder of the insecurity threatening lives and families across Nigeria.

He expressed particular concern over the involvement of an infant in the incident, insisting that no Nigerian should have to plead for their life or the safety of their family in the hands of kidnappers.

The ADC presidential candidate urged security agencies to act swiftly to secure the family’s release and rescue other Nigerians still being held captive.

Atiku also linked the growing insecurity to the economic difficulties facing households, saying Nigerians were already struggling with the rising costs of food, transportation and other essential goods.

He warned that kidnapping further deepened hardship by disrupting livelihoods and imposing emotional and financial burdens on families already under pressure.

“The government must move beyond assurances and deliver an effective, sustained response: rescue those in captivity, protect vulnerable communities and dismantle the networks responsible for these crimes,” he said.

Atiku stressed that Nigerians should be able to live, work and raise their families without the constant fear of violence, adding that protecting citizens’ lives must remain a primary responsibility of government.

He extended his thoughts and prayers to the Zakka family and other households experiencing the trauma of kidnapping, while urging authorities to take decisive action to secure the release of those in captivity.
