Lagos beautifies CBD with 200 flower pots

The Lagos State Government, through its Central Business District (CBD) Management Office, says it beautified the Lagos Island CBD with 200 flower pots in the last two years.

Mr. Olugbenga Oyerinde, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Central Business Districts, made this known during the 2021 ministerial press briefing to commemorate the second year in the office of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Oyerinde said that the flowers were to enhance the aesthetic view of the areas and woo investors to the state.

He said that enormous rebranding, beautification, painting, restructuring as well as demolition exercises had also been carried out in Lagos Island CBD.

The special adviser said that handrails/guardrails were installed and maintained in places like Apongbon, CMS and Idumota.

”The intention is to discourage pedestrians from crossing the roads at unauthorized and dangerous points, thereby putting their lives at risk.

”CBD has continued to maintain beautiful flower pots in Marina and its environs in line with government desire to woo investors and enhance the aesthetic view of the area.

”Over 200 flower pots, painted in white color, are placed in various places in and around Marina and Broad Street,” he said.

Oderinde said that during the period under review, the CBD Tinubu Square Layby Garden was completed and had been maintained for leisure and recreation by shoppers.

He said that in line with the present administration’s mission to regenerate and redevelop a greater Lagos, the agency embarked on the reconstruction and rebranding of the ”Ago Tower” in the Idumota area.

”To boost tourism and enhance the aesthetic value of the area, the office started the reconstruction and rebranding of Ago Tower, which had been abandoned for long.

”This is in line with the pledge of the present administration to continue to preserve cultural and historical sites across the state to the level of international standards to boost tourism, to generate employment as well as provide leisure and recreation for Lagosians,” Oyerinde said.
