President reacts to attack on Gov Zulum’s convoy

President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the attack on the convoy of Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state.

He said in a statement signed by the president’s media aide, Garba Shehu, that the deaths of the members of the JTF and some civilians was an orchestrated sabotage against the long-planned return of displaced persons to their local communities.

This is, however, not the first time that the governor’s convoy was attacked.

The President notes “with deep sympathy, the loss of lives of security men on the convoy, ahead of the return of Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, commiserating with their families and loved ones.”

The president urged security agencies to intensify their efforts to sanitise the roads, venues and locations ahead of the returning IDPs and to remain firm in their determination to restore normalcy to all communities liberated from terrorist attacks.

Buhari went further to commend those who gallantly repelled the attack as well as Governor Zulum for working with armed forces to bring normalcy back to Borno state.

He prayed that God grant the souls of those departed rest and comfort their families.
