Rivers: Reps, Ibas in closed-door meeting

The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee on Rivers State and the state’s Sole Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas, are currently in a closed-door meeting.

This signals the takeover of the functions of the Rivers State House of Assembly by federal lawmakers after several postponements of the meeting.

At the meeting, the Sole Administrator tendered an apology to the reps members present for failing to attend previous meetings.

Ibas also requested additional time to prepare to brief the committee, saying he is still settling down in his new role.

Following his plea to the committee, journalists were then excused and the meeting went into a closed-door session.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu had appointed Ibas as Sole Administrator after declaring an emergency rule in Rivers State.
