Italy’s oldest football club, Genoa, has new American owners.
Genoa said on Thursday that Miami-based investment company, 777 Partners, has bought a 99.9 percent share in the Serie A club.
They said the company was bought from Italian toy company boss Enrico Preziosi who remains on the club board of directors.
Founded in 1893 as Genoa Cricket and Football Club, they are a few years older than Juventus (1896) and AC Milan (1899).
The club won nine Italian titles, with the last one however dating back 97 years to 1924.
They have been in Serie A since 2007.

“We are deeply honored to become part of a club with such a great history, heritage, and tradition as Genoa, ” Josh Wander, founder, and managing partner of 777 Partners said in a club statement.
“We understand and respect the responsibility we are inheriting to preserve and protect the proud legacy of the `Rossoblus’ by aiming for the best possible placings in Serie A.”
Genoa’s new owners also have a small stake in Spanish top-flight club Sevilla
