Private hospitals hit by continuous and unnecessary taxations

Private hospitals in Abuja are the subject of constant and unnecessary taxations and levies and this is causing a strain on services.
Prof Olufemi Babalola, President of the Guild of Medical Doctors, has said that the continuous and unnecessary taxations on private hospitals in the federal capital territory will negatively impact on the provision of healthcare to low-income earners. These taxations might lead to a number of facilities shutting down or a skyrocketing rise in healthcare charges because most hospitals have been affected by the pandemic.
Prof Babalola blames this development on the Abuja Municipal Area Council for their negligence to the plight of private hospitals, and he is certain that they are extorted because of the misconception that private hospitals generate a lot of revenue.
