What I regret about my parenting skill – Mercy Aigbe

Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe has shared one of her regrets concerning her parenting skills.
According to the filmmaker, who recently released a film, ‘My Mother Is A Witch,’ her daughter, Michelle, was traumatised because she hit a bucket on her head when she was younger.
She noted that Michelle in recent times called her attention to the memory and how it affected her, adding she immediately apologised to her daughter.
“A few years ago, I sent my daughter to Canada for school. One day, I called her several times and she didn’t pick up. I was worried, and I had to call her friend. When she eventually picked up, she said ‘Mummy, I am traumatised, I remember how you hit a bucket on my head when I was young’. I was like Are you mad? I later apologised to her for the harsh upbringing. It is time parents start having conversations with their kids. We have a lot of damaged adults in society who have not healed from their childhood trauma. African parents are too proud to apologise,” she said.
